Students’ length of stay and academic needs vary enormously but the school works hard to re-engage them with learning.
All students at Northgate follow a personalised curriculum which is tailored to meet their individual needs.
All day students are taught National Curriculum subjects and have the opportunity to study a range of option subjects including humanities, ICT. social sciences and languages. In addition students have discrete timetabled PSHE lessons, including relationships, sex and health education and life skills lessons.
As a certified examination centre we prepare and enter students for relevant qualifications to support their progression. These qualifications include GCSE’s, Functional Skills and AQA Unit Award Schemes.
Students who are patients at The Beacon Centre follow a broad curriculum and have access to discrete English, maths and science teaching. This is supplemented by a programme of general studies, creative writing, artistic expression, life skills and PSHE.
All students are taught in small groups organised by the stage they are in their academic journey.
